| Project Objectives 1, Using a photo model, draw a person using proportion guides and “sticks” for the pose. 2. Find and cut out letters/words from magazines to create a collaged “message” about your model. 3. Background and fill – in: draw images in your background to support your message. Fill in or “quilt” part of your figure with coordinating magazine cut-outs. Featured Artists Faith Ringgold – Creates paintings on quilts that tell stories of her experiences as an African- American woman artist. http://www.faithringgold.com/ Barbara Kruger – Uses “found” black and white photos combined with text to get viewers to question traditions and society. http://www.tfaoi.com/aa/1aa/1aa667.htm Faith Ringgold Barbara Kruger Literacy Connections We studied text content of the featured artists’ works and incorporated text into our work as well.
